The Monroe Animal League is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization serving Monroe County since 1943, and is a member of the Federated Humane Societies of Pennsylvania.

Mission Statement:

Our mission is to coordinate the human efforts in Monroe County to aid in the prevention of animal cruelty and to relieve the suffering of companion animals.  MAL strive to optimize care through education, awareness, and financial support.

WE ARE NOT A SHELTER

The League financially assists Monroe County pet owners who cannot afford to have their pets altered and provides needed funds for the animal to be seen by a veterinarian should an emergency arise and funds are unavailable. These services are possible through the cooperation of many Monroe County veterinarians.

MAL sponsors humane education through the Adopt-a-Classroom program and an annual Scholarship.

MAL promotes spay/neuter and humane education as a way to control pet overpopulation, and thus relieves cruelty and suffering among animals.  We believe this to be the best way to achieve a future with no more homeless animals.

Additionally, the League loans humane traps/cages (with refundable deposit), gives out free of charge Pet Fire Alert decals for your home and Heat Warning Cards to distribute when necessary, provides pet food for distribution, keeps members abreast of legislation affecting animal welfare, attends many local events to make the public aware of our services...the League helps wherever possible.
